He's always had the skills.  Now John Rigsby's added the polish, capturing the subtleties and tones that separate a master musician from a proficient picker.  Like his mentor Ralph Stanley, John's roots run deep in the Primitive Baptist tradition.  That shows richly throughout this fine recording.  John's album features a pair of outstanding a cappella gospel songs: "Mother Dear at Home" which he sings with his cousin Don, and "Up Haste to Calvary" with both Rigsby boys joining with Elder Jerry Brown.

The instrumentals and secular standards are also skillfully performed.  John's mandolin work will make you sit up and take notice.  He also does a fine job on the fiddle, especially on "Black Mountain Blues", which will make you hit the dance floor running.  The CD was begun during John's stint with Melvin Goins and features several of Melvin's fine musicians in supporting roles.

Be sure to stop by the record table to purchase your copies of both these fine Clinch Mountain recordings.  And don't forget to call in requests for your favorite tracks to your local country or bluegrass radio station!
