Dr. Stanley, I have listened to your music for a great many years & throughly enjoyed every moment. I got to see you perform for the first time last year @ the first annual Clinch Mountain Music Festival in Kingsport. An absolutely great show.

Hi Ralph, I was born and raise there in Dickenson Co. My Dad was Olia Stanley that lived on Lickfork. My grandmother was Lura Stanley and my granny was Debbie Stanley.If you can recall my Dad died in 1976 and you came to our home and sung at his funeral.My Dad was a big fan of you. He really loved Bluegrass music.I can rember when my Dad help Campange for you when you was running for something there in Clintwood Va.I would like to know when the next time you come up this way to Richmond Va. or close to here. I'm trying to find the name of a song by Ralph Stanley & His Clinch Mountain Boys that has the word "liver" in the lyrics. Also something about family. I was born in Norton Va. And lived in Clintwood Va. during my early childhood. I grew up listening to Ralph Stanley and the Clinch Mountain Boys. I can recall visiting his home with my grandpa and Grandma Whom still live in Dickson Co. I now have two sons....The oldest who is 22 loves to listen to Ralph. And would love to see him some day.

I am a big fan of Dr. Ralph Stanley. I love to listen to bluegrass and country music. A cousin of mine got me started listening to Dr. Ralph Stanley for a long time. I saw Dr. Stanley perform last night at the bluegrass festival in Alburgh VT. God bless you! That was the greatest show I have ever seen (and I have been to a fair many shows from all types of music). I love ole time music! =)

I've loved Dr. Ralph's "Pretty Polly" for the past 25 years. When Judy Masters worked at WPAY-FM in Portsmouth, Ohio, she used to play it two, three times each show for Stanley fans in the Tri-State area of OH/KY/WV. Pretty Polly is what I call Polly Judd-Rideout, mother to Naomi, grandmother to Wy and Ashley.

MR.STANLEY IS ONE OF THE GREATEST singers of my& his time. he sings from the heart.my son tells of his grandfather living in the shenandoah national park,and getting under a big rock when the rain would come.those were hard times, but like the songs that mr. stanley sings there was lots of love.something that there is not enough of today. so mr. stanley, GOD BLESS and keep singing for your fans.

I really like playing your music im 36 years old and i just wonder what things would be like to live back in time when my grate grand parents lived on the mountain where the shenandoah national park is to day... just thinking what it would have been like the get every one together playing music and sharing the shine...my mom had told me storys of my grand pa walking up and down the road from the top of the mountain to the bottom just to go to town the road is called the red gate road. she told me my grand pa walked the road many of times for them even when it was raining and thunder storms and theres a sharp turn in the road where there is a big rock he told my mom that theres where he set when it rained hard when coming or going to town .....i go there some times and set just thinking of what life and my grandpa would have been like . cause he died before i was born .i just thought id tell you your music takes me back in time and i leave this worlds troubles behind when i listen to you.

Ralph....Your voice is truly a gift from God. The first time i heard you sing, specialy "Oh, Death" my jaw literaly dropped. I have never in my life heard anything like it. I have really enjoyed your festival over the last few years and hope you sign Will Mullins & the Virginia Playboys again for next year- they were great at the 2006 festival - Both Will and his band are very talented musicians and they bring a lot of enthusiasm to the stage. Great show this year!

I want everyone to know that Ralph,Jimmie,Ralph II and all the children are wonderful people on stage and off.I have known them for many years.They are an asset to the community that they live.The neighbors speak well of the whole family.The roadside in front of their home is worn thin from people stopping to take pictures.But they don't seem to mind.

I had the privilige to see Ralph II this past weekend at Tripple Creek and got my picture taken with him and an autograph! It was awsome! I just wanted to say how much I love your music. I got the chance to see you live at the bluegrass festival down in Jeckll Island back in December. The best part of the whole show was when I got the chance to meet you in person and you signed my favorite CD (Great High Mountain). Distant relative of the Carter Family. My paternal grandmothers' maiden was Wood. I can remember my father telling stories of walking across Clinch mountain from Big Moccasin to AP and Sarahs' home on Saturday nights. Also I attended UVa. at Wise when it was called Clinch Valley College and Dr. Joseph Smiddy(Pappa Joe) was the Chancellor. Many happy memories brought back when stumbled on this website. Listening to Stanley Brothers Folk Festival CD from 1961 and 1965 concerts this morning. Dr. Ralph Stanley autographed it for me at Renfro Valley in 2005. Thanks For The Bluegrass Music.

Saw Ralph and the band last night for the first time. A Dream come true.Always missed them when they played at Bill's in brown county.
