It was a night to remember. On January 15,2000 at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, Tennessee, Dr. Ralph Stanley was inducted into the world-famous Grand Ole Opry. Opry stars
Patty Loveless and Porter Wagoner inducted the bluegrass icon before a packed house at the Ryman as well as a nationally televised audience. Said Ralph upon receiving the invitation,
"I'll carry the name of the Grand Ole Opry wherever I go. I'll always respect it and I'll never let it down."
Patty Loveless, who was escorted on stage by Wagoner said, "Ricky Skaggs wanted so much to be here tonight and I'm sure he's here in spirit, as is your brother Carter, Mr. Keith
Whitley, Curly Ray Cline and many other Clinch Mountain Boys. We're all sharing this evening with you." She then joined Ralph and the Clinch Mountain Boys for a rousing
rendition of "Pretty Polly," which the singer recorded with Dr. Ralph on his "Clinch Mountain Country" album. In early 1999, the song spent three months at the top
of the Bluegrass Unlimited magazine's nation Bluegrass Survey. The album as a whole also spent three months at #1 and it was voted "Recorded Event of the Year" and
"Album of the Year" at the International Bluegrass Music Association's awards show on October 21, 1999...
